Easter weekend

Today is Good Friday ... it's almost Easter ... as we remember Christ's suffering and celebrate his compassion and mercy, shouldn't we (Christian or not) resolve to extend that same compassion and mercy to God's most innocent and defenseless creatures --- animals?
